Stanley V. Majewski - December 8, 2018

Cohoes Stanley V. Majewski, - Stanley Valentine Majewski, 97, of Cohoes entered into eternal life on December 8, 2018. Born October 23, 1921 in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kolcz Majewski, and husband of the late Josephine Waz Majewski.

He was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. Stan was a World War II Army Air Force veteran serving with the 18th Fighter Control Squadron as a radio operator in Hawaii. He was decorated in honor and the recipient of the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After serving his country, he worked as a carpenter at Iroquois Millwork in Albany until his retirement. He loved playing baseball as a catcher for several teams in Cohoes, but bowling was his passion. He started as a pin setter and later played on the Cohoes High School bowling team. He continued bowling throughout his life until retiring at the age of 91. He was so proud to bowl a 700 series again when he was in his eighties. He loved to pick mushrooms in his favorite places, which he learned from his father. Stan loved listening to Polish music and was an avid polka dancer up into his nineties. He was also a lifelong communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Cohoes, where he served as an usher, and was member of St. Michael's Community Center, Sons of Poland, and past President of the PNA 2462. Stan especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories at the dinner table.

He is survived by his loving daughters, JoAnn O’Connell and Nancy (Anthony) Catalfamo; his beloved grandchildren, Kathleen O’Connell, Timothy (Valerie) O'Connell, Christine O'Connell, Christa Catalfamo, and Kayla Catalfamo; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings John, Phillip, Joseph and Edward Majewski, Michalena Kowalik, Anna Jojo, and Sophie Voigt; and son-in-law Edward O'Connell.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Stanley in a special way may make a memorial contribution to St. Michael's Church, 36 Page Street, Cohoes, NY 12047 or Cohoes Senior Community Center (Meals on Wheels Program) 22 Remsen Street, Cohoes, NY 12047.

Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd 105 Vliet Blvd Cohoes Friday morning December 14 at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church in Cohoes.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
