Donald A. Meal - May 4, 2018

Glenville Donald A. Meal, - Donald A. Meal, 84, of Galway Lake, Glenville, NY and formerly of Clifton Park passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, May 04, 2018 embraced by his loving family. Born in Lockport NY, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Bertha Ida Bartz Meal and beloved husband of Joan L. Burleson Meal of Glenville.

Donald received his education in Royalton Hartland High School and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from SUNY Alfred. Donald was a proud United States Army Veteran and retired as comptroller with Wade Lupe Construction in Schenectady after many years of employment. In his younger years he coached little league and Junior Plainsmen in Clifton Park. He enjoyed his beautiful camp on Galway Lake and treasured spending time with his grandchildren teaching them how to fish. Donald was an avid golfer, well liked among his peers and played many rounds of golf in Myrtle Beach. He was a former member of the Cohoes-Waterford Elks #1317 where he held the office of treasurer and most recently a member of the Little River Elks #2840. He was also a member of the local American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Gregory A. (Gail) Meal of Cohoes, Cynthia Rose (R.A.) LeBel of Charlton and Gary T. (Jeanne) Meal of Latham, adored grandchildren, Amy and Luke LeBel and Jason Meal, brother Gerald (Carol) Meal of Lockport NY, aunt, Eleanor Muck of Lockport, sister in law, Peggy R (J.P.) Pickler of Albemarle, NC, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and her husband, Cecil Ward as well as sister in law, Rosemary Meal.

A funeral service will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd 105 Vliet Blvd Cohoes, Monday morning at 9:00.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
